Detective Conan 名探偵コナン
Detective Conan is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Gohso Aoyama. Due to legal considerations the name has been renamed to Case Closed in English.
Jimmy/Shinichi Kudo, who is known as the "modern Sherlock Holmes", amateur teen detective, has been shrunk by poison called APTX 4869 from the Mysterious Black Organization. To hide his identity from others, he lives with Ran and Kogoro and goes by the name Edogawa Conan. While solving numerous mysteries with Ran and Kogoro, he's also busy solving the mystery of his own. Finding the Black Organization and to uncover their secrets.
The series was first published in Japan's Weekly Shounen Sunday on January 19, 1994. The anime, Detective Conan, was adapted by Yomiuri telecasting Coroportaion and TMS entertainment.
Funimation licensed the series in 2003 in North America, and is known as "Case Closed" in the U.S. It was aired on Adult Swim, but due to low ratings, it was discontinued.
Detective Conan, both anime and manga, is still running today in Japan, and has sold over 140 million copies of the manga along with winning the 46th Shogakukan manga award in the shonen manga category. Detective Conan has its own Radio Shows,Live action series, Movies, Video Games, Merchandise, and Soundtracks.
